YMCA of Snohomish County hires new VP

The YMCA of Snohomish County has hired Dan Powell as its new vice president of membership development and engagement. Powell, a 22-year YMCA professional, is responsible for the planning, management, coordination, supervision and administration of membership service, retention, acquisition and sales for all five facility branches, plus a sixth branch opening in 2016 in the Stanwood-Camano community.

Author, business educator to speak on leadership at UW Bothell

The University of Washington Bothell School of Business Distinguished Guest Lecture series continues this week with local author and business educator Carol Sanford discussing what leadership will look like in the 21st century. Sanford, author of “The Responsible Business and The Responsible Entrepreneur.” will speak from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at UW Bothell’s Discovery Hall, Room 061. To reserve tickets, click here.

Youth Sports Performance Conference planned in Everett

The Snohomish County Sports Commission presents the first Youth Sports Performance Conference from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Walt Price Student Fitness Center at Everett Community College. Youth participants can measure speed, power and agility with hands-on activities. There will be vendors, speakers and athletes onsite. Domestic Violence Services to hold annual luncheon in Everett

Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County is holding its annual Help Take A Bite Out of Domestic Violence luncheon from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Outback Steakhouse, 10121 Evergreen Way, Suite 15, off Everett Mall Way. Gaming convention OrcaCon planned in Everett

Snohomish County geeks and gamers are joining forces to bring OrcaCon, an analog games convention, to Everett Jan. 8 through 10. Snohomish County PUD offers rebates of energy efficiency improvements

The Snohomish County PUD is offering big incentives this fall on heat pumps, duct sealing and insulation, efficient windows, lighting and more. For example, install a ductless heat pump by Dec. 18 and get a rebate of $800, plus a $400 bonus.
