2 suspects arrested in fatal Lynnwood shooting

UPDATE: Police say they have arrested two suspects in the murder of a man shot early Tuesday outside of an apartment complex in the 16700 block of Larch Way. Two men, ages 19 and 24, were booked Tuesday into the Snohomish County jail for investigation of first-degree murder and outstanding warrants. It did not appear that the suspects knew the victim, who remained unidentified late Tuesday.

LYNNWOOD — A man was shot and killed early Tuesday morning in an apartment complex parking lot in the 16700 block of Larch Way.

The shooting was reported shortly before 1 a.m. Several people called 911 after hearing shots, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.

When deputies arrived, they found a man in his 20s had died from his injuries. Deputies used a police dog to search a large area around the scene, but found no sign of the shooter.

Deputies had not made an arrest as of Tuesday evening.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner is expected to release the victim’s identity and determine the cause of death.

The search included the use of a Snohomish Fire District 1 ladder truck from Station 23 by Serene Lake. A detective climbed the rungs to get an aerial view.

Medics were dispatched after the 911 calls around 12:50 a.m., district 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said. They were told to stage near the parking lot while deputies made sure it was safe for them to get out of their rigs.

The road between 164th Street SW and 172 Street SW was closed for several hours while detectives investigated. Schools nearby were running on time, but some buses were rerouted along Larch Way, according to the Edmonds School District.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the sheriff’s office anonymous tip line at 425-388-3845.
