McClain Insurance ups referral donations to charities

Local independent insurance agency, McClain Insurance Services, was honored over the summer to receive the Herald’s Readers’ Choice Award for the second consecutive year. To celebrate, principal Claudia McClain has decided to pay it forward. In 2015, charities benefitting from the company’s structured giving program will receive an additional $250 donation over and above the referral-driven donation.

Transportation secretary to speak in Everett

Next Wednesday, Washington State’s Secretary of Transportation Lynn Peterson will speak to a meeting of Snohomish County Tomorrow about tying land use policy decisions to transportation infrastructure more effectively. The event is scheduled from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 30 on the first floor of the Robert J. Drewel Building, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett. The public may attend.

Solar energy workshop planned on Camano Island

A free public workshop on Solar Energy for Your Farm, Home or Rural Business is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday at Camano Center, 606 Arrowhead Road, Camano Island. The event co-sponsored by Camano Center and Fire Mountain Solar will discuss basics as well as how to apply for federal, state and utility cost-recovery incentives.
