Facebook message leads to arrest of man in Monroe

MONROE — A woman Saturday morning sent a Facebook message to a friend in Missouri saying she was being held against her will and was assaulted by a man with a gun.

The message was relayed to Monroe police who were able to piece together where the woman was and also identify a possible suspect.

Officers converged on the Monroe house just as a man walked outside. His mouth was bloody and he told police he’d been assaulted. He confirmed that there was a gun in the house, Monroe police spokeswoman Debbie Willis said.

Another man, the suspect, 27, eventually came out of the house and was arrested for investigation of having a stolen gun and harassment. He also may be facing assault charges. He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail.

The woman who wrote the Facebook message and a third man also came out of the house. The woman told police that the man they arrested had shown up at the house and no one wanted to confront him because he was known to carry a gun. He allegedly punched one man, he slapped her twice and threatened to kill her and her family if she called police.

Officers searched the house and found drugs and a disassembled stolen gun. The case remains under investigation.
