Trooper, another driver injured in Highway 99 collision

LYNNWOOD — A Washington State Patrol trooper was injured late Thursday night after a crash north of Lynnwood.

The trooper, Christopher Hooper, 36, was northbound on Highway 99, near Lincoln Way, when his Ford Explorer collided with a vehicle pulling into traffic, according to a State Patrol memo.

The other driver, a 48-year-old Monroe man, suffered internal injuries. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, while the trooper went to a local hospital. The trooper was released Friday morning, according to the State Patrol.

No drugs or alcohol are suspected. The crash, reported just before 11:30 p.m., is under investigation. Highway 99 was closed for several hours.
