2 injured, 4 displaced by Lynnwood apartment fire

LYNNWOOD — An apartment blaze that started in an oven here Saturday left two people with minor injuries and displaced many more from their homes, city officials said.

Fire crews were dispatched around 11:15 a.m. to the Camelot West Apartments at 40th Ave and 194th street. They arrived to find the apartment where the fire started full of smoke, Lynnwood city spokeswoman Julie Moore said.

Two units, on the third and fourth floors, sustained serious fire damage, Moore said. Several more sustained smoke and water damage. In all, 16 households were unable to return home that day.

Injuries were minor, with one resident transported to a local hospital and another treated at the scene, she said.

Fire investigators that afternoon continued to look into the specific cause.

Crews from Snohomish County Fire District 1 assisted with the response. The local American Red Cross chapter was helping displaced families.
