BELLINGHAM — The county of Klickitat is first in the state for per-capita recreational pot sales.

The Bellingham Herald reported that the most recent study by the Washington State Institute for Public Policy says sales reached $65.80 per capita and totaled $1.3 million at the county’s three pot shops.

Clark County was second to Klickitat with $56.93 sold per capita to total $24.6 million.

Washington’s recreational marijuana law requires the Washington State Institute for Public Policy to research implementation. A preliminary report released in September will serve as the basis to research impacts on public safety, substance abuse and the economy.

The next report is expected to be released in September 2017.
