2 teens shot near school; 17-year-old arrested in south Everett

UPDATE: 6:30 a.m. – A four-hour standoff with police this morning ended with the arrest of a 17-year-old boy suspected in the shooting of two teens Thursday night. He was being evaluated for minor injuries after a SWAT team used what was described as an aerosol irritant for force him out of a south Everett condominium.

Police activity in the area was not expected to affect morning traffic.

UPDATE: Major crimes detectives believe they have located a suspect in the shooting inside a condominium in the 1500 block of 115th Street SW. As of 2:30 a.m., the man reportedly was refusing to leave the building. Police have taken up position outside.

EVERETT — Two teenagers were shot south of Everett on Thursday night, and police were searching for the gunman.

The shooting was reported about 6:30 p.m. in the 11700 block of Meridian Avenue S, near Discovery Elementary School.

The victims, a 14-year-old girl and 17 year-old boy, are siblings. They were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Information on the extent of their injuries was not immediately made public.

The suspect was described as a black man in his early 20s wearing a red sweatshirt. The search for the suspect was ongoing as of 8 p.m., according to the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
