Gunfire, car wreck, power outage puzzle Everett police

EVERETT — Police are trying to make sense of gunfire, a car crash and a power outage that hit an neighborhood here early Tuesday.

Officers were called to the 6000 block of Kenwood Drive after somebody reported multiple gunshots, Everett police Sgt. Ryan Dalberg said.

When they arrived, they learned that power had been knocked out to the neighborhood by a Chevy Impala that had crashed into an electrical transformer. The driver apparently fled the scene, Dalberg said.

Officers learned that a man, 30, had been shot at the scene and taken by still-unidentified people to an Everett hospital for treatment. His condition was not immediately known by mid-morning Tuesday.

“At this state of the investigation, a motive for the shooting is unknown,” Dalberg said. Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit were investigating.

Crews also were working to restore power to the neighborhood.
