Abortion protesters to rally at Planned Parenthood clinic in Everett

EVERETT — Abortion opponents plan to rally outside Everett’s Planned Parenthood clinic Saturday morning.

Simultaneous rallies are planned outside Planned Parenthood facilities nationwide.

Planned Parenthood has come under congressional scrutiny after the July release of two hidden camera videos that showed officials discussing how they provide aborted fetal tissue for research.

Abortion opponents say the videos show the organization is illegally harvesting and selling organs. Three congressional committees are making inquiries.

Planned Parenthood’s president, Cecile Richards, said the group has done nothing illegal and is the target of a political smear campaign.

Planned Parenthood operates facilities through the U.S. focusing on reproductive health. One of its main goals is preventing unwanted pregnancies.

In Everett, the two-hour protest set for 9-11 a.m. is organized by members of Everett 40 Days for Life, which since 2007 has organized Everett vigils outside Planned Parenthood, 1509 32nd St.
