EdCC president honored with Patriot Award

Edmonds Community College president Jean Hernandez received the Patriot Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve on Aug. 7. The Patriot Award goes to an individual employer for outstanding support of Reserve and National Guard employees. The nomination came from U.S. Naval Reserves Lt. Melanie Asplund, an EdCC alumni who was also present for the award ceremony.

Facebook seminar planned at Lynnwood Convention Center

Facebook’s Small Business Boost will travel to Lynnwood on Friday to connect local small businesspeople with the tools they need to boost their businesses using Facebook. The free seminar will be co-hosted by the Economic Alliance Snohomish County with Congressman Rick Larsen, D- Everett, welcoming entrepreneurs.

The event begins at 2:30 p.m. with a half hour for check-in and networking at the Lynnwood Convention Center from 3711 196th St. SW, Lynnwood. The presentation and a question-and-answer session runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. More info: fblynnwood.eventbrite.com.

A limited number of tickets are still available for Economic Alliance Snohomish County’s Summer Networking event, one of the largest business events of the year. The event is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Strato Deck, 8415 Paine Field Blvd., Mukilteo. More than 350 business and community leaders are expected to attend. Tickets for the seventh annual Taste of Tulalip, Nov. 13 and 14 at the Tulalip Resort Casino, are now on sale. The popular two-day wine and food festival sells out every year.
