Abandoned house and motorhome burn near Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD — No one was hurt Wednesday in a house fire north of Lynnwood.

The fire was reported about 11 a.m. in the 13600 block of 26th Place W, near where Lincoln Way crosses Highway 99.

“It was an abandoned house where people had been staying,” said Leslie Hynes, Snohomish County Fire District 1 spokeswoman.

More than half the house was in flames when firefighters arrived and smoke was visible from miles away.

A motorhome parked near the house was destroyed.

Two women, who’d been sleeping in the motorhome at the time, were able to get out safely, Hynes said.

The Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross was assisting them.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Firefighters from Mukilteo and Lynnwood helped put out the blaze.
