After threatening to jump at train station, man climbs down

EVERETT — A suicidal man was taken to the hospital on Friday after threatening to jump from a railing at Everett Station.

The incident started before noon and continued until shortly after 4 p.m., when the man climbed down to safety.

The man, 35, was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett for evaluation, officer Aaron Snell said. He’s not believed to be local.

The railing was about 40 feet up and overlooked the railroad tracks.

The incident blocked a pedestrian bridge over the tracks south of the station’s main building. Some train activity was stopped during the negotiations.
