German aerospace supplier is expanding to Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD — German manufacturer General Aerospace is coming to America. To Lynnwood, specifically.

The small aerospace supplier recently announced plans to open its first office in the United States in Lynnwood.

Founded in 2003, General Aerospace is focused on increasing its business in the American aerospace industry, company officials said in a press release from Economic Alliance Snohomish County.

“This new location provides General Aerospace with an opportunity to not only work closely with the strong aerospace industry in Snohomish County, but a new means to grow our impact in the United States and global markets,” General Aerospace Managing Director Samuele Piatti said in the release.

“Snohomish County, specifically Lynnwood, proved to be the best location nationwide for our first expansion into the United States,” he said.

The company, which is based in Eschbach on Germany’s border with France, makes components focused on motion control, such as shock absorbers, actuators, and electro-mechanical window shades, among other products, for aerospace and defense companies.

“The environment is ideal for economic growth, especially from aerospace companies.” said Clarence Ivester, the company’s president and director of business development.

Workers based at the Lynnwood office will include engineers, sales support techs and customer service representatives.
