SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — South Snohomish will play in Portland in two weeks.

Makayla Miller continued her mastery of the Little League Softball West Region tournament, shutting out Northern California, 3-0, in Friday night’s championship game at Al Houghton Stadium.

“Makayla and I have been thinking about this for four-or-so years,” South Snohomish manager Fred Miller said. “This is the biggest win I’ve ever been a part of.”

Washington’s 11- and 12-year-old champions move on to a matchup vs. Asia-Pacific at the Little League Softball World Series at 1 p.m. on Aug. 13 in Portland.

“We’re pretty pumped up. Couldn’t be more proud,” Fred Miller said.

Makayla Miller (6-0, 0.38 ERA) scattered seven hits and struck out six. She added an RBI single for a 3-0 lead in the fifth inning. She allowed just two earned runs in a tournament-high 31 innings pitched.
