Everett teen who was shot is stable; no suspect yet

EVERETT — Police have little information to go on after another shooting Sunday in Everett.

The victim, a 18-year-old Everett man, was listed Monday in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His injuries no longer are believed to be life-threatening. No arrests have been made.

“Detectives are still working the case and developing any suspect information,” officer Aaron Snell said Monday.

The shooting was reported by neighbors about 1:40 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Upper Ridge Road and 75th Street SW. A 911 caller reported hearing multiple gunshots, Snell said.

Officers arrived to find the wounded man. They also heard what sounded like additional gunfire, Snell said.

Several nearby houses had been hit by bullets. “There were no other victims,” Snell said.

Police dogs were used to search for suspects. During that dragnet, officers came across two people with warrants. Both were arrested.

“It was totally unrelated to this incident,” Snell said.

It was too early Monday to shed any light on a possible motive, including whether the gunfire was gang-related, he said. No other new information on the shooting was made public Monday.

It was one of many for Everett this year. At least five gang-related shootings were reported in Everett between January and April.

Sunday’s shooting occurred on a different stretch of 75th Street than the house where a double homicide happened in February. In that case, a man is charged with aggravated murder. Prosecutors have declined to seek the death penalty.

Three people also were shot in June at the Taco Bell at the corner of 75th and Evergreen Way. The alleged shooter has been charged with first-degree assault.
