Everett: Change of command at naval station

Rear Adm. Richard A. Brown relieved Rear Adm. Dee L. Mewbourne as commander of Carrier Strike Group 11 (CCSG-11) during a change of command ceremony on Friday at Naval Station Everett.

Mewbourne has been in command of the strike group since March 2014. Brown most recently served as commander of the Naval Service Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois.

Carrier Strike Group 11 leadership operates from Naval Station Everett. Ships assigned to the group include its flagship, the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, which is currently homeported at Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton while it undergoes an extensive overhaul. The strike group also includes the aircraft of Carrier Air Wing 11, the guided-missile destroyers of Destroyer Squadron 23, and the guided-missile cruisers USS Princeton and USS Lake Erie, all of which are based in California.
