Boeing leads in deliveries, trails Airbus in new airplane orders

Boeing came up in second place to its European rival, the Airbus Group, on orders in the first half of the year. The Chicago-based company has deliver more airplanes this year, though.

Airbus reported a total of 382 new orders — 348 after counting cancellations — and 304 deliveries in the first six months of the year.

Boeing had 325 new orders — 281 after cancellations — and 381 deliveries.

At the Paris Air Show in June, Airbus announced 124 firm orders worth $16.3 billion at list price and 297 commitments worth $40.7 billion. Boeing announced 154 firm orders worth $20.2 billion and 177 commitments worth $30 billion.

The actual sales price are often negotiated down to as little as half the list price. However, customers’ deposit payments are based on the list price.
