3 people arrested in assault of teenager in Edmonds

EDMONDS — Police in Edmonds have arrested three people for investigation of a June 24 assault involving a teenager.

The early evening incident occurred near 72nd Avenue W and Olympic View Drive.

A man and woman, both 19, were booked into the Snohomish County Jail while a boy, 16, was taken to the Denny Juvenile Justice Center in Everett. Prosecutors have been asked to review a potential felony assault charge against a fourth suspect, a juvenile.

“This was a violent assault and it was important for us to locate the suspects and hold them accountable,” said Edmonds Detective Stacie Trykar, who led the investigation.

Police allege the suspects threw something at the boy and his friends when they passed them in a car. The victim threw something back. That’s when the car allegedly turned around and the assault occurred.

“There is evidence to suggest that a wrench and a stick were used during the assault,” police said in a press release.

The victim suffered head injuries that required staples and stitches to close.
