Stanwood woman wins communication award

Stanwood resident Connie Mennie, customer communications supervisor at Sound Transit, received the Georgina Davis Founder’s Award from Seattle Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications on June 17. Mennie has served multiple positions on the association’s board, including as president and as vice-president of professional development. She joined Sound Transit in 2005.

Also, new leaders have been appointed to the board at the Seattle professional chapter of the Association for Women in Communications including a number of representatives from Snohomish County. Mennie will serve as board secretary. Kristene Sarmiento of Everett/Mill Creek will be in charge of membership and Cathy Stevens of Bothell will serve as board historian.

Pemco Insurance ranked high in customer satisfaction

Pemco Insurance has earned the highest ranking for customer satisfaction in the Northwest region for the third consecutive year from J.D. Power. The J.D. Power study reflects consumer opinions from 46,256 total responses nationally. Though Pemco serves Washington and Oregon residents exclusively, it received a higher customer-satisfaction ranking than its regional- and national-carrier competitors.

Public sector union donates $500 to Boys &Girls Clubs

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees trade union Local 113 recently donated $500 to the Boys &Girls Clubs of Snohomish County. The union donates $3,000 to various causes each year.

Skagit Community Foundation receives $10,000 donation

The Skagit Community Foundation has received a $10,000 donation from Foothills Toyota Scion in Burlington and an additional contribution of $10,000 from Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. The grant will support The Basic Mediation Training program that is being co-developed with the Mount Vernon Police Department. Volunteers of America are a key partner in this training effort.
