The last time Everett’s Scuttlebutt Brewing and the Everett Music Initiative partnered up it was a rousing success, so the two decided to do it again.
Rock the Boat, a music and beer event partnership between Scuttlebutt and Everett Music Initiative, is 5 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Port of Everett. Scuttlebutt will be bringing 10 unique beers, including a number of new releases, to the event, which will be headlined by longtime grunge icons, Mudhoney. Fauna Shade, Everett’s hottest band, My Goodness and Duke Evers will also be playing.
“Scuttlebutt wanted to have a big summer time party that might become an annual event,” said EMI’s Steven Graham. “What came together is a celebration of all their great beers with amazing music from a legendary Seattle band and three great bands who are all very much on the rise right now.”
Scuttlebutt head brewer Matt Stromberg said that so far they’ve decided on one beer to bring to the event. Cinco Pirates, a red lager that is at 5 percent ABV and 44 IBUs, was produced about seven weeks ago by the brewery.
“It’s a hop forward lager not overly aggressive. Think of a classic west coast pale ale combined with the soft notes of a German-style lager,” Stromberg said. “It will pair well with a hot day and the music.”
The stage will be in Box Car Park behind Scuttlebutt’s waterfront location. Tickets, which Graham said are selling well, can be purchased at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1751870.
