MONROE — A kidnapping and carjacking reported in Monroe earlier this week turned out to be bogus, police said Wednesday.
After an extensive search for suspects and further questioning by detectives, the victim admitted she was not kidnapped, Monroe police spokeswoman Debbie Willis said Wednesday.
Police continue to investigate.
The woman, 41, on Monday told investigators she had been forced at knifepoint to drive two men from her Monroe home to Lake Stevens. She said her money and credit cards were stolen.
Police haven’t said if the woman will face charges in the case.
