MONROE — A two-alarm fire damaged a house Monday night south of Monroe.
Flames were reported shortly after 8 p.m. in the 22200 block of High Bridge Road, said Steve Guptill, the assistant Monroe fire chief. Everyone got out safely, and firefighters rescued a pet turtle, he said. Four people were displaced.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Crews on Tuesday still were assessing the damage, Guptill said.
Crews also responded from Monroe, Duvall, Woodinville, Clearview, Sultan and Gold Bar. Special trucks carrying significant amounts of water were brought in to help, as the closest fire hydrant was more than two miles away, Guptill said.
