ARLINGTON — Workers who lost their jobs when MicroGreen Polymers shut down abruptly last week can get some help finding a new job.

Workforce Snohomish plans to offer a free employment transition workshop for all affected employees.

The worshop will take place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Arlington Boys &Girls Club, 18513 59th Ave. NE, Arlington.

Employees will get information on unemployment insurance, Worksource services, Workforce Investment Act programs, education and training resources. There will also be a question-and-answer session.

The workshop is being presented in partnership with the state’s Employment Security Department, ResCare and Everett and Edmonds community colleges

MicroGreen made eco-friendly, lightweight cups that it sold to air carriers including Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, Virgin America and United Airlines.

The company estimated the potential global market for such plastic products was $50 billion, MicroGreen’s website said.

But the company failed to make a profit. One of its largest financial backers, the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde in Oregon, decided to foreclose on the company.

MicroGreen closed its doors on April 3, putting about 150 employees out a job.

For more information about the workshop, contact Paul M. Garcia, deputy director at Workforce Snohomish, at 425-921-3491 or email at paul.garcia@workforcesnohomish.org
