Live music and beer make a great combination.
So it was only logical for the Everett Music Initiative and Everett’s Scuttlebutt Brewing to team up on a project that brought the two together.
Scuttlebutt is debuting its Ming the Merciless Imperial IPA at a release party Saturday night at The Cannery in Everett. There will be live music from Deep Sea Diver and Tangerine. Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15.
“If we’re going to celebrate an 8.7-percent IPA, we knew we had to match it with some high octane bands,” said EMI’s Steven Graham. “Deep Sea Diver and Tangerine are putting out some of the best music in the Northwest right now.”

According to a press release, Ming the Merciless Imperial IPA has no balance and is really all hops. It was first brewed in 2013 and was bottled the following year. It will be hitting stores in early March and served at Scuttlebutt’s brewpub starting Sunday.
“It’s a beer lover’s beer,” said Phil Bannon, Jr. of Scuttlebutt Brewing. “It’s a different take on our IPAs and it’s a beer meant to have fun with.”
