SMOKEY POINT — An Arlington police officer and his police dog received minor injuries in a two-car collision Wednesday night while they were headed with lights flashing and siren sounding to a domestic violence call.
Officer Michael Gilbert, 43, was driving southbound on Smokey Point Boulevard when his Ford Crown Victoria patrol car was struck in an intersection by a Ford Fiesta eastbound on Highway 531.
The Fiesta driver, a 20-year-old woman, and a passenger, a 21-year-old woman, both were injured. Another passenger, an 18-year-old man, was not injured, according to Washington State Patrol.
The officer and the two women in the Fiesta were transported to local hospitals. The police dog was taken to a veterinary clinic for evaluation and later released.
The incident is under investigation by the Washington State Patrol.
