Big 5 opens store in Everett on Friday

EVERETT – Big 5 Sporting Goods plans to open a new store in Everett on Friday.

The sporting goods chain will employ up to 24 employees at the 10,438-square-foot location at 7705 Evergreen Way. The site is the location of the former Fashion Bug

President and CEO Steve Miller praised the vibrant Everett market. It will be the 49th location in Washington for the El Segundo-based company.

The company says its committed to its brick-and-mortar locations, but has just launched its e-commerce site to allow customers to shop on the Internet, said Rick Gridley, a company spokesman, in an e-mail.

The Everett site will hold a grand opening on Nov. 6 and will feature three days with special prices, raffles and enter-to-win promotions.

Store hours are weekdays 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.
