An Arlington insulation installer plans to compete in the 13th annual America’s Best Installer competition starting today in Denver, Colorado.
Albert Brodeur of Ken Root’s Insulation Service will be testing his skills in the competition with a $10,000 grand prize. The event runs through Saturday.
Brodeur was nominated for the competition by the business, which one of the members of Insulate America, the nation’s largest cooperative group of independent insulation contractors.
The competition was created by insulation manufacturer Johns Manville and Insulate America to promote insulation installation.
“This is an opportunity for industry professionals to show off their skills and learn from some of the country’s best installers, while engaging in friendly competition,” said Danelle DeGroodt, Johns Manville marketing manager, said in a statement.
Each competitor will install insulation into a mock home complete with construction obstacles, such as electrical outlets, pipes and a vaulted ceiling.
Industry expert judges will evaluate the performances based upon real job site criteria, including quality of workmanship, adherence to safety rules, speed and productivity and the amount of scrap material created.
