MARYSVILLE — Same place. Same suspect. More stolen cars in various stages of being stripped for parts.
The Snohomish County Auto Theft Task Force served a search warrant Wednesday on a suspected “chop shop” in the 3100 block of 87th Avenue NE. There they arrested a suspect, 29, on a warrant.
The detectives been there before.
On Wednesday, they found three stolen vehicles, several more that had been dismantled, and hundreds of vehicle parts, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
“They are ‘Frankencars’ by the time they’re done with them,” Ireton said. “It’s a real mishmash.”
Detectives went to the property earlier in the day to serve the suspect with a warrant for failure to appear in court on previous vehicle theft charges.
They’d found stolen vehicles and recovered parts at the same address last fall.
The suspect, who lives at the address, was booked into the Marysville Jail on Wednesday on the old warrant.
He’s also under investigation for motor vehicle theft and operating an illegal wrecking yard.
The auto theft task force is made up of officers from several law enforcement jurisdictions.
Its focus is reducing auto theft, finding stolen vehicles and increasing arrests and prosecutions of auto thieves.
