EVERETT — Fluke Corp. is asking students to show it new ways to use its newest line of products, called Fluke Connect.

The Fluke Connect Student Contest asks student teams to show the company how they would use the wireless tools to improve operations, including facility maintenance, client communication, machine reliability and energy savings.

The Everett-based company’s contest is open to students enrolled in two and four-year colleges, universities, trade or tech schools, and apprenticeship programs.

Entries are due Oct. 10. Five teams will be picked as finalists. They will receive Fluke equipment and will have four weeks to prove their plans work in the real world.

The teams will be judged on technical skills demonstrated, innovation and creativity, business value, and presentation.

Up to three members of the winning team will get a trip to meet with Fluke engineers and see the company’s factory. The team’s school will get Fluke equipment worth about $3,500.

The finalists’ schools will each get to keep at least some of the Fluke equipment used in the contest.

Fluke Connect is a set of wireless test tools with a connected smart phone app. It is meant to make it easier for maintenance technicians, electricians, reliability engineers and others to collect, store and share data from the field.

Founded in 1948, Fluke is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Danaher Corporation.
