Tourism bureau hires sports sales manager

Anthony Brenneman has joined the Snohomish County Tourism Bureau as sports sales manager, responsible for increasing Snohomish County’s prominence as a sporting events destination. The sports marketing department of the Snohomish County Tourism Bureau is branded as the Snohomish County Sports Commission. Brenneman reports to sports development manager Tammy Dunn.

Inslee: Hold net neutrality meeting in Washington state

Gov. Jay Inslee has sent a letter to the Federal Communications Commission expressing his concern with the commission’s decision to host all its public discussions on “net neutrality” or Open Internet in Washington, D.C. He invites the commission to hold an event in Washington state, which is home to a large internet-related business community with much at stake in this proceeding.

Online database reveals toxic chemicals in consumer products

Lab results revealing levels of toxic chemicals in consumer products sold in Washington are now available through an online database. The database includes test results for products such as children’s and baby’s items, clothing, personal care items, toys, children’s upholstered furniture, and electrical and electronic items. Tests show most manufacturers are following laws regulating the use of toxic chemicals.

Lynnwood sells city property opening way for development

On Sept. 8, the City of Lynnwood closed escrow on the sale of surplus vacant properties to the Edmonds School District. This sale enables the city parcels to be combined with adjacent surplus property for future redevelopment. Proposed for the property are an affordable multi-family development in a six-story building with underground parking and a six-story Hilton Garden Inn.

Walk to Dick’s Drive-In raises money for charity

Dick’s Drive-In Change For Charity organizers report that participants and customers raised over $1,000 at the Sept. 7 event. This total will be matched by Dick’s Drive-In bringing the overall total raised by the annual charity event to over $2,000.
