Farmers cooperative, Del Fox Meats to host barbecue

The North Cascades Meat Producers Cooperative and Del Fox Meats will present their plans to bring expanded USDA-inspected meat processing to Snohomish, Island, Skagit, and Whatcom Counties at a special barbecue dinner from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 6 at the Stanwood Camano Community Fair grounds, 6431 Pioneer Highway, Stanwood. Partner at Moss Adams takes over specialty taxes group

Accounting and business consulting firm Moss Adams has announced a leadership change to its specialty tax services group. Partner Marke Greene, a 14-year veteran of tax consulting, has taken over as national partner in charge, replacing Keith Palmer, who has been with the firm since 1979 and will retire at the end of 2014. Greene will work in Seattle. The firm has an Everett office with close to 100 employees.

Forestry field day planned near Arlington

The North Puget Sound Forestry Field Day for woodland owners is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 13818 184th St. NE (Mattson Road) near Arlington. The cost is $35 per person or $45 per couple. Changes helps spur solar projects

The Washington State Building Code Council unanimously approved a change in state law that allows installation of simple rooftop solar photovoltaic systems without review by an engineer. This change removes an estimated $500 to $2,500 in project costs and up to eight weeks of wait time for homeowners without compromising structural safety.
