VANTAGE — The Washington state Patrol says 24 cars and semi-trucks crashed in an I-90 pile up Thursday morning, leaving 11 people injured.
Trooper Darren Wright says the pile up happened just before 11 a.m. near Vantage, Washington. He says there are serious injuries among the 11 people hurt.
While crews clean up and troopers investigate, eastbound I-90 has been closed at mile post 116. The state Department of Transportation says there’s no immediate estimate of when that stretch of the interstate will re-open. Ash and dust from a nearby wildfire is diminishing visibility. Westbound traffic was temporarily closed as well.
Wright says it’s not known yet how the pile up started. It involves 15 passenger cars and nine semi-trucks.
