Everett’s season may be over, but some players with Silvertips ties are still going:
– Tips center Ivan Nikolishin is currently playing for Russia at the U-18 World Championships in Finland. Nikolishin has a goal and three assists in three games for the Russians, who are 1-1-1-0.
– Four players from this season finished up in the AHL, which just completed its season. Defenseman Mirco Mueller finished with two assists in nine games for the Worcester Sharks. Defenseman Matt Pufahl finished with one goal in five games with the Lake Erie Monsters. Center Jujhar Khaira was pointless in five games, and winger Joshua Winquist had the shootout winner in his only game, both with the Oklahoma City Barons. Oklahoma City advanced to the playoffs, where the Barons face the Texas Stars, the top seed in the Western Conference.
– Tips prospect forward Tyson Jost gets started at the Telus Cup today in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Jost’s Okanagan Rockets are attempting to win the Canadian national midget championship.
– Another Tips prospect, defenseman Lucas Skrumeda, won the MJHL championship with the Winnipeg Blues. The Blues advanced to the Western Canada Cup in Dauphin, Manitoba.
– Two former Tips are taking part in the NHL playoffs. Defenseman Radko Gudas has one assist, but his Tampa Bay Lightning find themselves in a 3-0 hole against Montreal. Defenseman Ryan Murray also has one assist as his Columbus Blue Jackets are tied 1-1 with Pittsburgh.
– Lastly, former Tip Peter Mueller will be playing for the U.S. at the Men’s World Championships in Belarus, beginning on May 9.
