BARING — Four people were taken to local hospitals following a collision on U.S. 2 near Baring on Sunday evening, according to the Washington State Patrol.
A 39-year-old Skykomish man had the worst injuries, serious but non-life threatening, Trooper Mark Francis said. The accident was reported at 6:23 p.m.
The man was driving a Mitusubishi Lancer westbound when he turned left across the oncoming lane to reach a driveway, according to Francis. He turned in front of a Kia Sportage headed eastbound.
The Kia hit the Lancer and the Kia rolled onto its top and into the driveway. The Kia driver, a 25-year-old Portland, Ore., woman and her passenger, a 39-year-old man, had minor injuries, Francis said.
The Mitsubishi driver’s passenger, a 33-year-old Skykomish woman, received minor injuries.
The accident blocked the highway. Traffic later was being let through on an alternating basis, Francis said.
The cause of the crash was under investigation Sunday, he said.
