The NHL Central Scouting Service released its final rankings for the 2014 NHL draft today, and Everett had little representation. The only Silvertip to be mentioned was goaltender Austin Lotz, who was a distant 22nd among North American goaltenders.
These rankings suggest Everett likely won’t have any players drafted this year. Lotz was ranked 10th among North American goalies in last year’s final rankings, but didn’t get selected, and it’s harder to get drafted when it’s no longer your initial draft year.
Everett had several players who who were mentioned in the rankings at some point during the season (Tyler Sandhu, Ivan Nikolishin, Dawson Leedahl), but they’ve all dropped off the list.
Interestingly, winger Waltteri Hopponen, who was the odd-man out among Everett’s three Euros during training camp, ended up ranked 122nd among North American skaters following his season with the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL.
Kootenay center Sam Reinhart was the top-ranked WHLer, being ranked third among North American skaters.
