Lane closures due to construction on the 164th Street corridor project are expected weekdays between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
The city of Mill Creek is partnering with Snohomish County to repave 164th Street between I-5 and the Everett-Bothell Highway. Federal law also requires upgrades to more than 80 sidewalk ramps and 13 traffic signals to Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
Crews expect to first demolish and rebuild sections of sidewalk and curb ramps at each intersection and several driveways. They are scheduled to work from west to east, starting in the business district near I-5.
This phase of construction is expected to last through the end of May but the progress will depend on the weather. Business access points are set to remain open during the project.
The repaving work is expected to begin this spring or summer as weather permits.
Both the city and the county received a federal preservation grant in 2012 to help fund the project.
Current construction details are available by searching for “road projects” on the county’s website at snoco.org.
