March 5

The Everett Planning Department will host a developers’ forum from 2 to 4 p.m. March 5 as the second in the series of in-house workshops aimed at city staff in its plan to accommodate projected population and employment growth over the next 20-plus years. Interested citizens are also invited to attend. The meeting will be held in the Weyerhaeuser Room at Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave., Everett.

March 7

Zonta Club of Everett will hold its annual celebration of International Women’s Day with a luncheon meeting at noon March 7 at the Everett Golf and Country Club, 1500 52nd St. SE, Everett. Guest speaker Janice Ellis will talk about violence against women in Indian country. Ellis has served as prosecuting attorney for Snohomish County and the Tulalip Tribes. She is now a Snohomish County Superior Court judge. Ellis has volunteered for Dawson Place Child Advocacy Center board of directors, the YMCA board of trustees and the Deaconess Children’s Services board of directors.

March 7

The Community Transit Board of Directors is scheduled to take action on the agency’s new six-year Transit Development Plan at its regular monthly meeting at 3 p.m. March 7. The Transit Development Plan, 2013-18, outlines Community Transit’s projected financial and service goals over the next six years. It projects no substantial new service increases in that time frame due to financial constraints, but if new funding is secured, the plan provides guidance on how service can grow. The draft plan can be found online at www.communitytransit.org/futureplans. The board will also hear about Community Transit’s proposed Title VI Non-Discrimination Program. Under the federal Civil Rights Act, Title VI prohibits discrimination based on race, color or national origin. Community Transit’s plan outlines how the agency provides service and reaches out to affected populations under Title VI. A public comment period and community meetings will be held to discuss the plan with the community.

Better Your Business will present a forum on taxes and insurance from 9 a.m. to noon March 8 at the Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center, 8825 34th Ave. NE, Tulalip. Julie Stivers of Stivers Accounting &Bookkeeping will speak on taxes and business structures. Paul Pukis of Mosaic Insurance Alliance will talk about the ins and outs of business insurance.

Beginning March 13

The Everett Fire Department is offering a Community Emergency Response Team class from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays, March 13 through May 1. Everett residents and business owners are encouraged to participate.

Snohomish County nonprofit Clothes For Kids will hold their third annual Transforming Lives breakfast on March 14 at the Lynnwood Convention Center. This year’s emcee is Jen Mueller, sports reporter and CEO of Talk Sporty to Me. Last year, the organization provided more than 4,044 wardrobes to low-income children in the County.

Dr. Colleen Tracy of All Family Dental Care will offer the clinic’s second free emergency dental care day on March 16. The clinic will open at 8 a.m. to provide free dental care to anyone who needs it. The clinic is located at 10315 19th Ave. SE No. 110, Everett.

Foggy Noggin Brewing is celebrating its third anniversary with the release of 2013 Anniversary Ale on March 16 at the tasting room at 22329 53rd Ave SE, Bothell. Only 38 cases of the beer will be released. Private tasting of all three Foggy Noggin Brewing’s Anniversary Ales will occur on March 15. Space will be limited.

March 16

A Chocolate Walk to benefit Historic Downtown Snohomish will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 16. There are 17 stops on the walk to collect chocolate goodies. Only 200 advance tickets are available.

March 20

The Greater Everett Community Foundation will host the annual breakfast for the Human Services Endowment Fund in Honor of Bob Drewel at 7:30 a.m. March 20 at the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at Comcast Arena in Everett. The event honors several individuals who have made a significant impact to human services in Snohomish County through two surprise awards. Proceeds support grantmaking efforts of the Greater Everett Community Foundation.

March 21

The Everett Public Schools Foundation will host its 19th annual benefit breakfast on from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. March 21 in the Edward D. Hansen Conference Center at Comcast Arena in Everett. Scott Fancher, vice president and general manager of airplane development for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, will be keynote speaker. The breakfast theme is “Think STEM” Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Fancher will speak to how critically important STEM education is for student success in a changing world. Funds raised from the event will support program initiatives of the Foundation that help our Everett Public School students and staff. The Stanwood Camano Area Foundation’s 2013 Philanthropist Breakfast will be held March 29 at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center in Stanwood. Keynote Speaker will be Norman Rice, president and CEO of The Seattle Foundation. April 10

Monthly peer-coaching groups for executive directors or CEOs with three or more years of experience will be available from Capacity4Good Consulting beginning April 10. The group will meet from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Edmonds Senior Center. Cost is $95 per month, which includes materials.

Clothes For Kids and the Lynnwood Chamber of Commerce will partner in a bowl-a-thon from 5 to 7 p.m. April 17 at Lynnwood Bowl &Skate. All funds raised will directly benefit Clothes For Kids. Sponsorships are being accepted. Cost is $25 for single players, $100 for teams of four, $250 for community partner teams of four and $500 for “full-strike” sponsor teams of four.
