Library Place Apartments earn top development honors

EVERETT — Library Place Apartments, a 200-unit complex located adjacent to the main branch of the Everett Public Library on Hoyt Avenue, recently earned top honors as the winner of the Multifamily Development of the Year award from the Commercial Real Estate Development Association.

Qualifications for the award include quality of design, quality of construction and contribution to the surrounding neighborhood.

“Several outstanding regional development projects were reviewed by the judging committee this year, and just being a finalist was an honor,” Library Place developer Craig Skotdal, president of Skotdal Real Estate, said in a news release. “Our team’s commitment to excellence and their dedication to creating a project that set a high standard are reflected in achieving the highest honor.”

Seven hundred guests packed the Bellevue Hyatt Regency’s hotel ballroom Nov. 9 for the association’s annual Night of the Stars awards dinner, the signature event for the Puget Sound region’s real estate development community. Night of the Stars recognizes local public and private real estate projects and companies for their impact on the community, market adaptability, ingenuity and local contributions. The awards committee is comprised of general contractors, architects, leasing brokers and others representing some of the region’s largest companies involved in both public and private development.

The second phase of Library Place opened in March with approximately 10 percent of the upscale apartment units pre-leased. Currently, the project is 60 percent occupied and is projected to be fully leased by spring 2013.

“The most important recognition is coming from our new residents,” Skotdal said in the news release. “They are voting for Library Place every day by choosing to make it their home. Residents appreciate the walkable convenience of urban living in Everett and the spectacular views of the city, Sound and mountains.”

“We love promoting special activities for our residents that incorporate our literary theme,” said Library Place building manager Nicole Heins. “From joining a book club to attending an author talk, we’re always looking for ways to partner with the Everett Public Library next door.”
