Traveling on a 787 Dreamliner is about to get easier for the Boeing Co. (BA) workers who designed and assembled the aircraft here in the Puget Sound region.

All Nippon Airways of Japan will launch a Tokyo-Seattle route this year, initially with a 777 and then with a 787.

ANA originally announced the service plan back in December. On Wednesday, the Port of Seattle said the carrier had set the inaugural service date of July 25 into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. That's a little ahead of schedule.

The airline will begin service between Tokyo's Narita airport and Seattle with a 777-300 Extended Range jet. ANA will switch to a 787 later this year.

ANA was launch customer for the 787, taking delivery of the first last September.

Japan Airlines, ANA's rival, was the first to start 787 commercial service into the United States. JAL launched service between Tokyo and Boston on Sunday.
