Mount Baker considered for geothermal power

BELLINGHAM -- The volcanic heat under Mount Baker could be tapped to generate electricity.

The Bellingham Herald reports the Bureau of Land Management wants to lease nearly 6,000 acres of land on the southeast side of the mountain to power companies for possible development.

The Forest Service is taking public comment on the idea.
