About roundabouts

The state Department of Transportation has scheduled an open house tonight for people who want to learn about two Lake Stevens roundabouts to be built in 2013.

The two single-lane roundabouts near the 99th Avenue NE and the 113th Avenue NE intersections are meant to smooth traffic flow and reduce the risk of serious collisions involving drivers turning on and off the highway.

The open house is planned from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Lake Stevens High School commons, 2908 113th Ave. NE. A presentation is planned at 6 p.m.

More info: www.wsdot.wa.gov/projects/sr92/99throundabout.

Salmon barbecue: The Oak Harbor Lions Club will serve up grilled sockeye salmon during "Holland Happening Weekend," 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, in the park next to the Chamber of Commerce, 32630 Highway 20.

The fundraiser will include a meal of salmon, baked beans, coleslaw and bread or for lighter eaters, a sockeye BBQ sandwich, chips and drink. All proceeds support community programs and projects.

Splashdown for Splash: It's time to send us your fairs and festivals, your events and concerts for The Herald's annual guide to all things summer. We need to have event information in hand by May 4.

Email your summer lineup to astewart@heraldnet.com with Splash in the subject field. Splash comes out May 18.
