Coast property adviser Jansen earns accolades
Josh Jansen, senior adviser with Coast|Sperry Van Ness of Everett, was awarded the firm's Award of Excellence for achieving the highest sales volume in the firm's twenty-five year history in 2010.
“While the rest of the country and region were fighting through a downturn,” said Tom Hoban, Coast CEO. “Josh and his team found opportunities for our clients that were nothing short of remarkable.”
Jansen, who joined the firm in 2006, heads a group that includes adviser Matt Wilson, who specializes in apartment sales and included the sale of the Barkley Trails Apartments in Bellingham, the single largest apartment transaction in Whatcom County and one of the biggest in the state in 2010. Jansen also heads a team specializing in sales and leasing of office, retail and industrial properties. According to Kevin Maggiacomo, CEO of Sperry Van Ness, Jansen was one of the top 10 producers for the nationally affiliated group of approximately 1,000 commercial real estate advisers throughout the U.S., marking a new milestone for Coast|Sperry Van Ness and Jansen.
Stanwood accountant adds CPA to staff

Mallot has 25 years of experience in public practice working with national and local accounting firms performing tax, accounting and audit services. He also has 12 years experience working as a controller and has in-depth knowledge of the challenges of owning a small business.
Mallot will be involved in audits of small businesses as well as providing tax services for a wide range of clients.
VOA welcomes new regional vice president
Volunteers of America Western Washington recently welcomed retired Brig. Gen. Robert “Bob” Reese as regional vice president for Snohomish County. Besides integrating Volunteers of America's services across the county, he is responsible for Family and Children's Services for Snohomish and Skagit counties.
Reese comes to VOA with more than 30 years of experience in planning, operations and community leadership. He has planned complex activities and managed extensive operations of extremely large military organizations. He has also guided military communities in Colorado and New Mexico, with responsibility for a broad range of services similar to those provided to residents here.
Reese's regional responsibilities involve integrating VOA's services countywide, with a child-centric approach. In Snohomish County, VOA provides housing, food and early education for the community's most vulnerable populations.
Toyer sells his Everett accounting practice
Rich Toyer has announced the sale of his practice, Toyer & Associates CPAs Inc., PS. Toyer opened his practice in 1977, serving Everett and all of Snohomish County.
The new owner is Bruce Dietrich, a CPA with more than 28 years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial reporting and income tax planning and preparation. He has worked or consulted with businesses in industries that include construction, manufacturing, service and not for profit. Most recently, he has managed multiple offices that specialized in accounting and tax preparation for small businesses.
Dietrich took responsibility for the business effective Jan. 1.
The change means Toyer will have the opportunity to reduce his work and focus more time on Toyer Financial Corp. He will remain in the office and will continue working with clients on a contract basis for Dietrich.
Business will go on as usual with the same the office location, phone numbers and e-mail addresses. Only the name changes to Toyer, Dietrich and Associates, CPAs.
Boeing Employees Community Fund elects new trustees
The Employees Community Fund of Boeing Puget Sound has elected a new slate of board trustees for 2011.
They are President Robley Evans, Vice President Sukari Mdogo, secretary Joyce Nugent, treasurer Bob Malone and first-year trustees Patty Rhodes, Andrea Hutchins, Renard Burnett and Dave Hopkins.
Serving for two years, ECF trustees manage the day-to-day operations of the Puget Sound region fund. Since 1951, Boeing employees have donated more than $500 million to ECF Puget Sound, which celebrates its 60th birthday on Sept. 20. The companywide Boeing ECF is one of the world's largest employee-owned and operated charitable funds.
Rossi returns to Coast Equity Partners
Dino Rossi has returned to his post at Coast Equity Partners, a private real estate investment firm based in Everett, after taking a leave of absence to run for the U.S. Senate in Washington.
Rossi lost a close race to incumbent Democratic Sen. Patty Murray that became one of the most expensive in the country.
“While we supported Dino's call to serve Washington citizens, we are delighted to have him back working with investors throughout the state who want to invest in quality real estate properties with us” said Mike Harmon, the firm's president and a partner with Rossi. “We just closed the acquisition of a sizable apartment community in Bellingham and have designs to serve investors and create jobs through more of the same.”
Mukilteo glazier named to glass association
Peter Barnhart of Pacific Glass & Door Inc. in Mukilteo has been elected secretary of the Washington Glass Association.
His 2011 term begins March 1.
Among the directors for 2011 is Bill Coady of Guardian Industries Corp. in Bothell.
Wells Fargo names district manager
Steve Hatfield has been named community banking district manager for Wells Fargo's Snohomish district, announced Ron Henderson, Northwest Washington Community Banking president.
Hatfield is based in Lake Stevens and leads about 127 team members and 11 banking stores: Broadway (Everett), downtown Marysville, Everett Main, Evergreen Way (Everett), Lake Stevens, Lake Stevens Marketplace, Martha Lake, Marysville, Monroe, Snohomish and Stanwood.
Hatfield, a Washington native, is an eight-year Wells Fargo veteran who most recently was a district manager for Wells Fargo Financial in Montana, where he had management responsibility for nine branches and 49 team members. Earlier he was a branch manager for Wells Fargo Financial locations in Alaska and Montana, and an assistant manager in Washington. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics and communications with a minor in political science from University of Washington.
Washington Federal names Everett branch manager
Washington Federal has named Staci Lindstrand branch manager of the Everett office, announced Roy Whitehead, Washington Federal's president and chief executive officer.
Lindstrand, a resident of Lake Stevens, has eight years of banking experience prior to joining Washington Federal. She earned her bachelor of arts in ecological studies at Seattle University and serves on the Snohomish County Young Professionals Advisory Committee. In her free time, Lindstrand is also a Junior Achievement volunteer and accounting chair for Lake Stevens Relay for Life 2011.
Cascade Bank hirings and appointments
Cascade Bank, the principal operating subsidiary of Cascade Financial Corp., has announced the following personnel moves.
Winter Graham has been promoted to retail operations manager.
Graham, who has nine years of experience in the banking industry, joined Cascade three years ago as branch manager of the bank's Bellevue branch. She recently served as branch manager of the Colby branch in Everett prior to taking her new position and will continue to work out of Cascade's Everett office.
Graham has a long history of community involvement and has donated her time to United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Volunteers of America and HopeLink. In addition, she recently graduated from the Executive Development Program for the Washington Bankers Association. In her free time, she enjoys playing soccer and spending time with her family.
Raji May has been promoted to manager of the bank's Woodinville branch.
May, who has more than eight years of experience in the banking industry, joined Cascade three years ago as assistant branch manager at the bank's downtown Bellevue branch.
In his free time, May enjoys soccer, basketball and art. He also assists in the community, having donated his time to volunteering at Food Lifeline in Shoreline.
Erica Zender has been hired as assistant vice president and branch manager of its Colby Avenue branch in Everett.
Zender has worked in banking for the past 25 years, most recently as a mortgage broker at a regional bank. Her experience also includes working 13 years as a branch manager for a national bank.
Outside of work, Zender is active in supporting her community. She has volunteered with the Bellingham Boys & Girls Club Auction Committee and the Whatcom County 4-H club as a Horse Games Leader. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing and horseback riding as a member of the Nooksack Valley Riders. She lives in Snohomish.
Barbara Grimes was promoted to senior vice president, asset/liability manager.
Grimes has worked in Cascade's finance department for the past six years and has more than 27 years of experience in finance. She holds an MBA in finance and accounting from the University of Washington. She works out of the bank's corporate office in Everett.
Grimes' financial experience also benefits her community where she serves as a board member and treasurer for the Mukilteo Schools Foundation. In addition, she is a longtime supporter of United Way and belongs to the University of Washington Alumni Association. In her free time, Barbara enjoys reading, skiing and travel.
