University of Washington Bothell has announced the launch of the Goodlad Institute for Educational Renewal (GIER), housed on the UW Bothell campus. The new institute was created to continue the work of Dr. John Goodlad, who developed the National Network for Educational Renewal (NNER), a non-profit corporation that now includes 24 school-university partnerships throughout the U.S. and Canada with the goal of simultaneous renewal of P-12 schools and the education of educators.
The GIER will work collaboratively with the NNER on projects of national significance, focusing its efforts on how PK-12 schools and universities can better realize the public democratic purposes of education, and will promote research, professional training and service.
